The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) began in Sacramento over 60 years ago when a group of progressive contractors got together to advance the quality of the sheet metal, heating and air conditioning industry.

Today, SMACNA member contractors are widely recognized as the most professional and experienced contractors in the industry. In partnership with the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association (SMWIA), Local 162, they offer specialized expertise in many areas. These include commercial, architectural, industrial, government projects, residential, schools, custom metal fabrication, siding and decking, testing and balancing, energy management, and maintenance.

SMACNA contractors provide the highest level of craftsmanship and attention to detail on every job. As expert designers and fabricators, they are continually creating new methods and materials for the industry. When you work with a SMACNA contractor, you know you’re getting the highest level of efficiency and quality available.

Unlike many other contractors, SMACNA member-employees are required to complete a rigorous apprenticeship program focusing on new technologies, energy efficiency and job safety. Plus SMACNA contractors continually train through on-going education programs. This all-encompassing training ensures that no matter how complex the job, a SMACNA contractor will have the expertise to get it done right the first time. It also gives them the ability to problem-solve, offering innovative solutions to unpredictable situations as they may occur during the job.

When you hire a Sacramento area SMACNA contractor, you’re hiring a professional who has made a commitment to quality and safety. Collectively, SMACNA contractors spend approximately $28 million nationwide on training each year. This training has helped develop a highly-skilled core of contractors with specialized expertise in many areas, including:

SMACNA contractors work with both individual homeowners and industry professionals such as engineers, architects and general building contractors. For years, the construction and development industry has depended on SMACNA contractors to get the job done on time and within budget. SMACNA contractors have over a half-century of experience working on commercial sheet metal, heating and air conditioning projects for government, private industry, hazardous waste facilities and the military.

Homeowners and owner-builders, as well, hire SMACNA contractors to install or upgrade heating and air conditioning systems for the home. The training and experience of a SMACNA contractor ensures that the system will be installed properly, and with your family’s safety in mind.

To remain on the cutting edge of technology and innovation, SMACNA contractors are committed to on-going research within the industry. They have been instrumental in designing new procedures for system design, installation and testing. Using the latest in computerized monitoring and control systems, a SMACNA contractor can help companies and homeowners avoid environmental health hazards or costly litigation.

And, because indoor air quality is an issue that affects not only employees’ health, but the overall health of a company, or a family as well, SMACNA contractors have built their reputation on excellence in heating and air conditioning installations.

SMACNA contractors in Sacramento take pride in on-going community involvement, donating time, expertise and often materials for worthwhile community projects.

SMACNA supported W.E.A.V.E., Women Escaping a Violent Environment, in a fundraising effort with the Sacramento RiverCats. SMACNA donated money for each homerun hit by the new baseball team during the 2000 opening season.

Whether it’s installing a new heating and air conditioning system for a children’s center, or volunteering to help raise funds for a charitable cause, SMACNA members are an integral part of the communities in which they live and work.

The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors (SMACNA), in partnership with Sheet Metal Workers’ Local Union 162, have been marketing in the Sacramento area since 1995. Promotions and advertising campaigns have helped enhance community image for SMACNA and SMWIA, as well as increase business and name recognition within the industry, and improve labor-management relations.
